Lake Hamilton is a town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,304 at the 2000 census. As of 2004, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 1,406 1. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area.According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 3.9 square miles (10 km2). 3.0 square miles (7.8 km2) of it is land and 0.9 square miles (2.3 km2) of it (22.51%) is water.Lake Hamilton is located in the humid subtropical zone.The dominant geographic feature in the city is the large lake for which the city is named. Lake Hamilton, the body of water, is part of the Chain of Lakes. The lake has a surface area of 2,184 acres (8,840,000 m2). and an average depth of 7.2 feet (2.2 m).
