Umatilla is a city in Lake County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,214 at the 2000 census. According to the U.S. Census Bureau's 2004 estimates, the city had a population of 2,502. Umatilla is known as the Gateway to the Ocala National Forest, located in northern Lake County.The city was named after Umatilla, Oregon.According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.1 square miles (8.0 km2). 2.5 square miles (6.5 km2) of it is land and 0.5 square miles (1.3 km2) of it (16.99%) is water.
