Bridgewater is a town located in Plymouth County, in the state of Massachusetts, United States. As of the 2010 U.S. Census, the town's population was 26,563. Bridgewater is located approximately 25 miles (40 km) south ofBoston and approximately 35 miles east of Providence, Rhode Island. It is named after Bridgwater, Somerset,England.According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 28.2 square miles (73 km²), of which 27.5 square miles (71 km²) is land and 0.7 square miles (1.8 km²) (2.62%) is water.
